Public Observing Sessions and Outreach Events
While RAC is a hobby club, we share our interest in the night sky with the local community. The public nights are free (though tickets may be needed) and open for all ages to attend. We bring the telescopes and experience for you to learn and enjoy. If you are bringing children, please encourage them to not run around the telescopes. We do our best to keep the waits at telescopes reasonably short, but Astronomy isn’t an active sport, so dress as if it is 10 degrees cooler than forecast.
Also, check back before heading out for the event. Poor weather conditions are common in NC and may result in cancellation of the session. Remember, it’s not just rain, but clouds can force us to cancel. A list of upcoming events is below. New events will be added as they are scheduled.
