Co-Chair: Blair Groden hosted the meeting which was held at the NCMNS in Raleigh.

The room will change due to the elevator being repaired.  Be on the lookout for a room change.

  • Meeting Topic: Indoor Meeting: David Shives
  • Meeting Description: Join us for an exploration of David Shives’ 3D Moon Map artwork and experience it up close as he showcases his work for us.
  • Speaker: David Shives
  • Bio:  David Shives is a seasoned designer and visual strategist with over 30 years of experience in EdTech, specializing in science-based technical illustration, animation, and immersive storytelling. A member of the Raleigh Astronomy Club for nearly a decade, David spends most clear nights under the stars at his home near Creedmoor, NC. He now combines his lifelong passions for science and art through museum-quality lunar surface sculptures that fuse NASA data with creative interpretation.
  • Summary:  The presentation was exceptionally good.  The audience was engaged.

        • Because this is a wider audience, talk about how the image was taken and NOT   about the image processing
        • Each imager will have 3-5min to speak, depending on the number of   imagers participating

    • Nov. 20th Imaging Meeting
      • The topic will be Solar Images
      • Naveen Malik and Dean Herring will talk about a simple spectroheliograph called the “SUNSCAN” that allows you to capture real-time data of what the sun looks like
      • After the talk, imagers are encouraged to share some of their own solar images they captured using their setups.
