RAC Indoor Meeting Minutes

Co-chairperson Mike Keefe hosted the meeting in-person at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, as well as virtually using the Zoom platform.

18 participants in-person, 20 participants via Zoom.

Presentation: “Star Parties: What to Expect and How to Make the Most of Your Observing” by RAC members Mike Keefe, Doug Lively, and Jim Pressley.

Membership – 397 total (11 new members. 0 emails removed – inactive members)

  • 267 single memberships
  • 77 family memberships with 77 secondary members (53 registered)

Balances

  • Business checking: $ 811.56
  • Savings: $ 23324.06
  • Special purpose checking: $ 293.32

A large expense (~$3000) for RAC’s annual Astronomy League membership will be due soon.

One vote was collected in-person at the meeting. The remainder were collected via on-line voting prior to the meeting. The new officers elected for the next term are:

  • Co-chair: Naveen Malik, Anastasia Vail, and Mike Keefe
  • Treasurer: Steve Izzo
  • Secretary: Steve Blake

    • August 5 – First Fridays Under the Stars with Triangle Land Conservancy at Three Bear Acres
    • August 12 – Skywatching at Dorothea Dix Park – Persied meteor shower
    • August 28 – Skywatching at NC Museum of Art

The observing committee is looking for volunteers to coordinate events and assist at events with or without a telescope. To join the committee send a blank email to [email protected]. Any club member is welcome, regardless of experience level.
