In the interest of keeping a history of the club, I thought a word about why events starting in April 2020 were cancelled by the Raleigh Astronomy Club. On March 11, 2020, The World Health Organization declared “We have therefore made the assessment that COVID-19 can be characterized as a pandemic. “
On March 27, 2020, The Governor of North Carolina issued an Executive Order for all residents to Stay at Home. It was at this time the co-chairs of the Raleigh Astronomy Club started taking the steps to follow that directive. Again, I thought I would include this article so future club members looking in our records would understand why the events of the club stopped occurring.
