Telescope Loaner Program

Telescope loaner program continues to be updated. John S. is weeding through good scopes, those in disrepair, and those which might be better used outside the loaner program. He is also putting together “kits” to make the scopes more complete and easier to loan out.

The 17″ dob (which was donated to the club a long time ago) was sold to one of Fred’s friends, Michael Searle. This was a difficult decision, but MIchael built a similar scope with Fred and the officers felt this the best outcome for the telescope.

There are several other scopes which are being evaluated. It’s likely some will be offered for sale to the club.

A few misc bits, including a mount needing repair were offered after the meeting.

Public Observing

North Cary Park for Lunar Eclipse. Sunday Sept 27, starting at 9. Park and carry scope onto the soccer field where observing will happen. Binoculars and scopes are needed. Several members, in addition to those who volunteered via the Yahoo email group volunteered. Weather is not looking great, but we are hoping it happens.

Financials were presented to the club.
