12/11 Voting on the terms for Officers. Regular Meeting.
10/13 Apex Library – Observing sessions. 7:30-8:30pm
10/15 Garner Library – Observing Session 7:30-8:30pm
10/18 ASTEC – Observing Session 8-11pm
10/21 Solar Observing – During the day. Send Ian H. an email if you are interested in volunteering.
Tuesday, October 21 – This is museum open house day and the attendees will be able to spend the day at the NCMNS. I know this is a school/work day, but we could use a few folks to help if possible.
There are two places to assist.
– The first is the Space Observation Lab. I have volunteered to assist there, but we could use at least one other person to help. These volunteers will focus more on astronomical research and not observing,
so some background/understanding in the basics would be helpful. We can provide some information about specific research underway in the lab. You don’t have to work the whole day, but I would love to have some help so I can take a break or two at least.
– The second is for solar observing. We would like offer solar observing on the terrace (the green roof on the 4th floor). If one or two people can volunteer for even part of the day, that would be really helpful.

Term Limits for Officers – Constitution Change
Below is the current language in the RAC constitution regarding officer terms and the proposed change. There will be a vote at the December meeting on this constitution change. Please feel free to email the officers on any questions you have in advance. Or bring your questions to the meeting in December.

Section 5. Limitations of Office‑Holding. No officer shall simultaneously hold more than one elected office.
Proposed Language:
Section 5. Limitations of Office‑Holding. No officer shall simultaneously hold more than one elected office. No member shall be an officer for more than three terms consecutively.
What does this mean for the club. This means that in the coming election, Ann Murphy (Secretary) and Mike Keefe (Co-chair) will not be able to run during this time. This is due to the fact that both have had more than three terms.
