On Saturday, December 17th some of the members held an informal observing session at Big Woods (Jordan Lake).  Club member Brian Reasor, the ALCOR, reports it was a short but decent night for skywatching.

Several members also attended and did some viewing with binoculars and their 10″ Coulter Dobsonian. Brian sky toured some Messiers to check out his scope alignment and was working on his Messier observing list.  They also did an impromptu public observing when 3 people and 2 dogs walked through from one of the nearby developments. The dogs had on red, flashing LED necklaces to make it easier to find them if they got loose. It was very seasonal. The club members showed them: The Double Cluster, Pleiades, M42, M31, M15 and Jupiter. They were pretty impressed. About 11, the cold and high clouds shut down observing, but the low temperatures were causing all the gear to get pretty frosty anyway!!
