Even though poor weather caused the regularly scheduled observing session to be cancelled, we had a great discussion on optics cooling and dew prevention during an informal meeting at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences on Friday Night…
Michael Keefe brought in his telescope and homemade “CAT cooler” device to show the group.
There was also a good discussion on why closed telescopes (except for refractors) seem to suffer from tube currents. A couple of members mentioned that the found the use of insulation to be helpful. There was also a discussion about dew strips and controllers.
After the meeting, the group went to Tripps for dinner and a good time was had by all!
