Speakers: Ian Hewitt, Mark Lang, Joe Pedit, Steve Izzo, Chris Cole
This was a special meeting for the elections, not to mention that the weather did not cooperate for a RACOBS. This meeting showcased various club members’ photos. It was very interesting and there were a lot of questions. Five club members that presented were Ian Hewitt, Mark Lang, Joe Pedit, Steve Izzo and Chris Cole. At the end of the meeting there were announcements about presenters that will be in coming month’s meetings.
The first speaker was Ian Hewitt. He showed us M33, M42 and NGC253. The next speaker was Mark Lang. He showed us the comet Hale Bopp he took in 1997. He also showed us an Aurora photograph that he took on the western side of Jordan Lake. This occurred on September 7, 2002. Joe Pedit was next. He presented a panorama view of Big Woods. He had this is black and white and color. The black and white showed up better. Steve Izzo was up next. He showed us M31, the Bubble Nebula, M33 and others. The last speaker was Chris Cole and he showed us the moon. He was able to use Photoshop to show details clearly in both the dark section and the light section of a quarter moon. The dark section needed more exposure time, but it washed out the light section. The light section needed to be processed differently to show the details.
The last topic was a announcement about a special speaker in the imaging meeting. This meeting is scheduled August 16, 2013 and the speaker is Mike Salway. This will take place at the usual location – Blinco’s Restaurant. It will be an interactive webcast.
