RAC along with the NC Museum of Natural Sciences hosted an International Observe the Moon Night event at Dillard Drive Middle School tonight. About ~70 kids and parents got an opportunity to observe the Moon and Saturn. The Moon being close to full washed out most dark sky objects and dew set in by 08:00PM on an otherwise clear sky. The attendees were wowed by the views and the school organizers were extremely grateful for our participation.

Thanks for the support of the Peach Road Park 10/4 Int’l Observe the Moon Night event. The Mexican Consulate and the park are going with an estimate of 200 attendees.  That might be on the high side, but I definitely had great conversations with quite a few people at the welcome table.

About 30 people came out for stargazing in Cameron Saturday night. It was dark enough to see a faint Milky Way near the zenith, although everything dewed up by 08:00PM. Saturn, M31, and various clusters and nebula were observed. My attempt to find Comet Lemmon visually failed, but a local who brought out their Unistellar telescope got a very good image.
