On 6/15/2013, several members took advantage of the nice weather to go out to Howell Woods

About a dozen people were camping in the cabins and came over to view the moon, Saturn and Venus. Early on, cloud cover was a problem, but we had enough breaks to do some observing. John Nigro, Jim DellaPenna and Brian Reasor brought scopes. Clay Coor also showed up. By 10, the clouds had cleared and we showed several of the campers:

    – M13 Globular Cluster in Hercules – M57 Ring Nebula in Lyra – M81, M82 galaxies in Ursa Major – Albireo double star in Cygnus – Antares in Scorpius

It was surprising how well we could see some of these brighter DSOs with a half moon out. All in all, a good time was had by all…
